Frequently asked questions
- 01
Students at Green Fields are engaged, inquisitive, and eager to learn. They approach new ideas with curiosity and take an active role in their own learning, often exploring questions through discussion, experimentation, and real-world experiences. They develop independence in their thinking while also learning how to collaborate, listen, and contribute positively to their community.
- 02
Green Fields values a strong partnership between school and home. Families play an important role in supporting each child’s growth, both through regular communication with teachers and through encouragement beyond the classroom. Our school community brings together students, educators, and families in a shared commitment to each child’s development and well-being.
- 03
Green Fields applies the latest research in how people learn to create a truly student-centered experience. In small classes, students are challenged to grow as far and as fast as their effort and curiosity take them. They are not passive participants, but active partners in shaping their education. Our faculty—many with advanced degrees—work alongside students to build a learning environment grounded in curiosity, ownership, and real understanding.”
- 04
Each day, elementary students spend approximately 90 minutes outside, balancing guided activities with unstructured play. Secondary students have a one-hour lunch period to eat, connect with teachers, and socialize with peers in designated areas—many of which are outdoors—reflecting our belief in the importance of movement, community, and time beyond the classroom.
- 05
Our class sizes typically range from 10–20 students. Because students often work with the same teacher over multiple years, teachers develop a deep understanding of each learner—allowing for more personalized instruction and sustained growth over time.
- 06
Green Fields serves students from across the greater Tucson area, including the Amphitheater, Tucson, Marana, and Flowing Wells Unified School Districts—reflecting our reach across a wide range of communities.
- 07
Our classes are intentionally mixed-age, allowing students to learn at their own pace and level of readiness rather than strictly by grade. In this environment, students benefit from both receiving support and being challenged appropriately. With small class sizes and a flexible curriculum, teachers are able to adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of each learner.
- 08
Green Fields graduates go on to attend a variety of independent and public schools in Arizona, across the United States, and internationally. Their next schools consistently note that our students are well prepared academically, contribute positively to their communities, and have a strong understanding of themselves as learners.
